Neurodiversity Awareness

We embrace the idea that there is no single way to think, learn, or solve problems. Neurodiversity brings valuable perspectives that enrich our team and fuel creativity. Our lab is committed to fostering a supportive environment where all individuals feel understood, respected, and empowered to do their best work.

To help build awareness and empathy, we recommend a selection of TED and TEDx Talks that highlight the strengths, challenges, and lived experiences of neurodivergent individuals in academic and professional spaces:

Temple Grandin – "The world needs all kinds of minds"

Temple explains how her autistic brain works and discusses how workplaces, especially in science and engineering, often overlook visual thinkers like her. She advocates for redesigning environments and job roles to better support different cognitive styles.

Workplace challenges addressed: Lack of fit between job design and thinking styles, undervaluing of visual or spatial intelligence

Watch on TED

These talks are part of our ongoing commitment to understanding and celebrating cognitive diversity. Lab members are encouraged to explore them, reflect, and share their thoughts as we continue shaping a more inclusive research space.
